No one ever outgrows the child-like disappointment of a planned beach day that comes up rainy or too cloudy. One advantage we have here in Florida is that as long as it’s not raining, gray beach days can be very warm, even in early spring. So as long as there’s no lightning and we have an easy escape route in case it starts, we go anyway.
We favor Gulf beaches, even though Atlantic is closer. The Atlantic beaches straight east from central Florida don’t seem to be cared for as well. And the Gulf water tends to be warmer. Also,we know the good parking areas, the clean county park bathrooms for changing, and the tasty seafood restaurants up the coast.
Remember, just because it’s cloudy doesn’t mean you don’t need sunscreen. Ow.
