Seeing through the blackness today. I have trepidation even about going to the grocery (2 min away) for carrots to put in the turkey soup. I fear even a momentary weave into traffic bound for the battlefield of the electronic mayhem.
This whole mass amassing of things to the benefit of retail giantry feels wrong. Feels anti-Christmas. I dislike the commercials depicting children in rapture at opening a big boxed…thing. Presents are nice, and so are things (I love books, for instance), but in perspective. Right? Things. You’ll thing your eye out, kid. Did anyone ever feel complete for more than five minutes after opening a…thing?
Thing is, unless they’re food you need to live or materials for the roof over your head, they’re just…things.
